Heritage Talk: Irene De Boo, ‘Louisa Ryland’

Louisa Ryland was one of Birmingham’s most prominent benefactors of the nineteenth century, donating millions for the provision of hospitals, church, schools and parks, especially the land for Cannon Hill Park. She also provided half the funds for the prestigious Birmingham School of Art, the other half being donated by Tangye Brothers of Smethwick.

Irene De Boo has worked in the Birmingham Museums and Heritage sector for many years and was Head of Collections at the Black Country Living Museum from 2014 to 2019.
