Moor Pool Heritage Trust employs 3 part-time staff who manage the day-to-day running of the estate
Barbara Nomikos: Hall & Assets Manager
Barbara has a background in museums and heritage, from Birmingham Museums Trust and the National Trust. She has a passion and great understanding of historic buildings and their value to the communities around them and continues to use this expertise to work with the community and volunteers and to maintain Nettlefold’s vision for Moor Pool for the benefit of local and wider community and future generations.
Justine Marklew: Education & Community Outreach Officer
Working as a national and international journalist for 20-years Justine took a change in professional direction after a three-year career break. Becoming more interested in environmental and sustainable projects in Birmingham. Freelancing for several environmental charities and projects in including three years in a Comms and Liaison role at a community tree planting project, Birmingham Trees for Life that planted 100,000 trees in Birmingham. Justine has also worked for Birmingham, Civic Society and Birmingham Tree People and now feels lucky and honoured to be part of the MPHT team as Education, Engagement and Outdoors Officer within such a progressive, dedicated hardworking team and fantastically friendly and invested community.
Clare Gordon: Marketing & Fundraising Coordinator, Estate Office
With a background in craft, event management and fundraising, Clare is already well-known to many living on the estate for her regular Harborne Handmade craft markets held at the hall. As a Harborne local, she is excited to be working as part of the MPHT team to oversee the running and marketing of our latest community asset, the Estate Office, which offers a co-working space and meeting room. She is also working on new fundraising initiatives alongside the MPHT Fundraising Committee.

Trustees
Moor Pool Heritage Trust has 8 Trustees. All are unpaid volunteers who either live on the Estate or locally and offer a range of skills from their backgrounds, including marketing, finance and engineering
Simon Stirling MA, ACIB
Simon has lived in Harborne for over 25 years and has been Chair of Moor Pool Heritage Trust since 2016 and a Trustee since 2013. Now retired but with a background in commercial banking and finance. He is also a Trustee of Moseley Road Baths
Andrew Hackett
Andrew lived on the Moor Pool Estate for over 40 years until his death in September 2023. Andrew had been a Moor Pool Heritage Trust Trustee since 2016 and had been instrumental for so many years before that in the campaign to win Moor Pool Hall and the community assets that we hold so dear.
Jules Bellingham
Jules Bellingham has lived on the Moor Pool Estate, in Moor Pool Avenue, for over 14 years. She is a “third generation” resident – her parents and grandparents having lived in Moor Pool Avenue and High Brow respectively. Jules currently works as a Learning and Development Consultant for an organisation that works exclusively with not-for-profit or charitable organisations (e.g. she delivers leadership and management training for organisations like the RNLI and Macmillan Cancer Support).
Nigel Bartram
Nigel has lived on the Estate for some 30 years in Carless Avenue, having moved to Birmingham in the mid 1970’s to study at Aston University for a doctorate which was awarded in 1981. He has a background as a Chartered Civil Engineer and ownership of a Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy, based in Quinton. Nigel has also been an active member of Circle Tennis club, both on the committee and as a player and was one of the founder committee members of Moor Pool Residents Association. Other than that Nigel enjoys spare time on his allotment. The unique feel and atmosphere of the Estate is something he cherishes, and hopes to preserve for the future.
Jill Howes
Jill has lived on Moor Pool Estate since 1985, and has seen a lot of changes over the years, some good and some not so good. She wanted to help preserve the community assets in this wonderful Garden Suburb. Jill is a founding member of The Trust and was invited to join the Board of Trustees, shortly before the acquisition of the hall and assets.
She has a background is in public relations; newspaper publishing, TV broadcasting and the motor industry, including the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust and museum.
Jill is an active committee member of the Moor Pool Residents Association and a keen gardener with an allotment on the estate. She is also a founding member of The Circle Cycling Club. All this keeps her busy during her retirement!
Phil Simpson
Phil has lived with his family on the edge of Moor Pool for nearly 50 years. He worked until retirement for the City Council, advising the Planning Committee on all Highway and Transportation matters. He’s been involved with The Harborne Society, St Mary’s Church, Birmingham Hospice, the Green Party and Cafod for many years. He advised the MRG when Graingers initially proposed house building on the Estate. For over 20 years he was a magistrate in Birmingham. His wife, Marion, was a local GP. He has been Secretary to the Trust since 2017.
Sarah Copley
Sarah is the Chair for the MPHT Fundraising Committee.
Stuart Green
Stuart has been a resident on the estate for 28 years. He is interested in environmental sustainability and loves spending spare time on his allotment at the back of Park Edge. He is a medical physicist who is currently head of the department of medical physics at University Hospitals Birmingham. He has previously been a Trustee of a number of UK charities and is a currently Chair of one other small charity.

Our team
Volunteers
Volunteers are an essential part of the Moor Pool community. Moor Pool Heritage Trust has at least 100 volunteers for sub-committees such as the Nettlefold Garden, Moor Pool Allotment Association and Fundraising Committee as well as volunteers who help with events, gardening and tours.
