Nettlefold Garden Grand Opening (MPHT)
Nettlefold Garden Grand Opening
Sunday 21st May 11.00-15.00.
On Sunday 21st May the Nettlefold Garden was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham and over 400 visitors attended to see this fantastic new open green space that can now be enjoyed by the community. It was a lovely sunny day, with plenty of trails and activites for the children, as well as games, Roger Brown's delicious burgers on the barbecue, scrumptious cakes, accompanied by music and a lovely atmosphere to celebrate the achivement of the local volunteers who have created this wonderful open green space for Moor Pool. The transformation of this previously overgrown area into a lovely garden has been down to a small team of volunteers that comprises the Nettlefold Garden committee, creating this lovely wildlife-friendly green area for the community to enjoy. The day was a true celebration of the achievement and hard work of volunteers, including those that helped out on the tombola, barbecue, cakes and stalls - demonstrating the true value of community, an ethos that was was part of the vision of Moor Pool's founder, John Sutton Nettlefold, after whom the garden is aptly named.
Watch this space for the next event, but in the meantime please get in touch if you are interested in volunteering and helping out with any our events, gardening or if you are able to help with regular opening and closing of the Nettlefold Garden. Initiatives like this, alongside Moor Pool's events and activities would not be possible without the help of fantastic volunteers so even if you can only give a small amout of time please get in touch - every little helps!
